Politkovskaya, took his alleged murderess

The alleged murderess of Russian journalist Anna Politkovskaya, Rustam Makhmoudov, was arrested. The lawyer said his brother and his alleged accomplice. According to the lawyer, the alleged killer was arrested at his parents' home in Chechnya, Achki-Martan district, without resistance. Soon it will be moved to Moscow.

Until now, investigators had claimed that Makhnudov Rustam was in Europe. For the lawyer, the arrest could lead to new investigations into the murder of Anna Politkovskaya, the journalist of the biweekly Novaya Gazeta, opposition shot in the lift at home, October 7, 2006 in Moscow. Politovskaia was known for his criticism of the then Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov, and his courageous complaints about abductions and torture suffered by civilians in the small Caucasian republic.
