China, a new Eldorado for construction of architectural groups colorless

GMP is responsible for extending the National Museum of China. The acronym for this very important German agency imposed himself on his original name: Gerkan, Mark & Partners and those of its two founders, Meinhard von Gerkan, born in 1934 and Volkwin Marg, born in 1936. The agency first became known in Germany, where she initiated the construction of railway stations, airports, stadiums, little known for their architectural subtlety.

It has international offices in strategic cities of Germany like Berlin, Hamburg, Frankfurt, it was based in Brazil, has exported its effectiveness "high protein" in South Africa and especially in China where it has made Wu Weil, born in 1971, one of five partners of the two founders. Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen are the foundation of the group that recently completed the enormous expansion of the National Museum of China, now only slightly less rich than the Louvre (in square meters), and whose location in Tiananmen Square , opposite the People's Assembly and sides of the mausoleum of Mao, to say the least strategic.

Odorless and tasteless, if not altogether clear, the museum's architecture belongs to an international modernity has no other purpose than effectiveness. GMP but aligned itself with the practice of major international agencies, sometimes almost unknown to the public, hidden behind acronyms that mask the complex structures of several hundred people (SOM, HOK) and, if they leave the show name their founder (in the case of Columbia Foster), are no longer legible signature.

For all these groups, China has become an Eldorado. Especially since, in most cases they are happy megalomaniacs order designs in the form. As for size, we will use if they are really oversized. The agency often follows the progress of the project, and institutes of Chinese construction project or just interpret the drawings within the meaning of quality.

GMP is responsible for dozens of major accomplishments, including the huge exhibition center in Shenzhen, Chongqing opera, stage in Foshan and the Grand Theatre of Qingdao. Among the French very present in China, there is the AREP (the former agency of SNCF stations), and Valode Pistre or Architecture Studio.

The Chinese, however, now have outstanding architects, not yet famous or powerful enough to attract the public order. Only two groups founded by private (and Vanke SOHO) begin to drill. Edelmann
