WASHINGTON, 27 May. The U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs, Andrew Shapiro, travel to Colombia and Brazil between May 30 and June 3, as confirmed on Friday the U.S. administration. Shapiro will remain on Colombian soil 30 and 31 May, during which visit Tolemaida air base to observe the training of security forces in Colombia and will meet with senior military officers and civilians in Bogotá in order to "build an initiative on security cooperation to address common challenges "in this case.
While in Brazil, Shapiro hold various meetings in Rio de Janeiro, as well as deliver a speech at the War College to a group of military officers and instructors. In Brasilia, will participate in the bilateral dialogue on political-military affairs, following the round of talks that kept the U.S.
and Brazilian governments in Washington in 2006. The United States-Brazil Dialogue on Political-Military issues focuses on common strategic challenges in the region and in promoting efforts in security cooperation, peace and defense.
