During the Sunday Angelus blessing and before several thousand people gathered in St. Peter's Square Vatican expressed concern about the social upheavals that have occurred in recent weeks in several Arab nations.
'My pain is also thought to Libya, where recent fighting has caused many deaths and a growing humanitarian crisis, "he said. 'To all the victims and those who are in distress assure you of my prayers and my proximity, I invoke assistance and relief to stricken populations, "he added. Revealed that continuously tracks and 'great apprehension' the tensions that these days, are recorded in several countries in Africa and the Middle East.
He also recalled the assassination of the minister for minorities, Shahbaz Bhatti, the only Christian in the government of Pakistan and the first Catholic to hold this position, assassinated by Islamic fundamentalists on Wednesday in Islamabad.
