The spokesman Muammar Gaddafi regime, Ibrahim Moussa, announced the agency Associated Press (AP) the imminent release of the Spanish photojournalist Manuel Varela de Seijas, professionally known as Manu Brabo, arrested on 5 April near the Libyan town of Brega. According to the spokesman of Tripoli, both Spanish photographer and two other American journalists captured with him, James Foley and Claire Morgan Gillis, have appeared this morning before a judge to answer charges of illegally entering the country.
"They should go home today or tomorrow at the latest," added Ibrahim Moussa, according to which is being prepared for repatriation. The spokesman did not explain whether they will have to pay a fine and merely indicated that, after the trial, journalists have come to be in custody. Spanish diplomatic sources have expressed confidence that the release will occur soon, but did not want to specify the date of Manu may be back in Spain.
The number two of the Embassy of Spain in Tripoli, Diego Ruiz, won the June 9 Brabo visit at the home of the Libyan capital where he was arrested with two other American journalists. In late April, Brabo telephoned his family in Asturias to communicate that she was fine.
