The Muslim Brotherhood announced Saturday, April 30 that it would present candidates for about half the contested seats in parliamentary elections scheduled in September. The Brotherhood, which was banned but tolerated under the regime of Hosni Mubarak is seen as the political force more structured post-revolutionary Egypt.
She announced that she is a political party, and said he "will not theocratic" but civil. On its website, the Brotherhood said that the goal set by its advisory council (shura) is to present candidates for 45 to 50% of parliamentary seats. The Muslim Brotherhood should not, however, present a candidate in the presidential election to be held by the end of the year.
