Vittorio Arrigoni, the first kidnapping in the Gaza Strip since 2007

Vittorio Arrigoni where she lived in Gaza since August 2008 seizure of Vittorio Arrigoni, which ended with his death (see news), is the first against a foreign national in the Gaza Strip since March 12, 2007. The last was kidnapped British journalist Alan Johnston, BBC correspondent Palestinian Enclave, taken hostage by another group Salafi, the Army of Allah, close to Al Qaeda.

Johnston was released July 4, after 114 days of captivity and tortured negotiations directly tied to Hamas. Data since the conflict between the Islamic Resistance Movement, which controls the small territory since mid-June 2006, and the ultra-fundamentalist formations active in Gaza, promoting relentless application of Sharia law in its interpretation more rigid, and then accuse Hamas over secularism and moderation.

The relationship between the radical group in power in the Gaza Strip and the Salafists, which we know at least five major fringes, further exacerbated since August 2009, when fighters of Ansar Jund Allah (Soldiers of Allah's fighters in Italian, ed), during a sermon at a mosque in Rafah proclaim the establishment of an "Islamic Emirate." The Brigade Brave Companions of the Prophet Mohammed bin Moslim which claimed the kidnapping of the Italian pacifist, in exchange for its supposed liberation demanded the release of their leader and an unspecified number of other comrades who were arrested last month by the so-called Executive Force, the police force established by Hamas in the territory under its control, and 'parallel' security apparatus of the Palestinian National Authority.

Had also been given an ultimatum of thirty hours and apparently intended to end at 17 today local time, 16 in Italy. The Salafis in Gaza have distinguished themselves for attacks on local shops and they say 'guilty' from secular modernity, especially the Internet-point, and the hostility of the Christian community, which demand the expulsion Enclave .
