TEPCO begins to compensate families evacuated

8300 euros is the amount pledged the nuclear accident in Fukushima, Tokyo Electric Power (TEPCO) to each household forced to leave their home or live caulked due to radioactive emissions. "We decided to pay quickly," said the CEO of TEPCO, Masataka Shimizu, during a press conference Friday. But it is only a preliminary estimate, said the company president said that he was unable to say how much the final Tokyo Electric Power should pay.

The decision to pay this deposit, before fixing the amount of damages, was validated during a Board of Directors Tepco at the behest of the authorities. Are concerned the residents of the evacuation zone, a radius of 20 km around the plant Fukushima 1, and those living in the belt of 20-30 km, where they are advised not to stay or live caulked.

The population of the towns that are not included in this department but were ordered to leave their homes will also be compensated. A total of 48 000 households will be affected, according to calculations by Japanese media. Meanwhile, the operator will incur a reduction in costs, which will go through a déminution of its workforce.
