Supreme Court ordered the dissolution of the party of Mubarak

.- The Supreme Administrative Court of Cairo on Wednesday ordered the dissolution of the National Democratic Party, led by former President Hosni Mubarak, who stepped down last February 11 under pressure from a popular uprising that broke out 18 days earlier. The National Democratic Party (NDP) was established in 1977 and led by then president Anwar al-Sadat, which this year enacted a law to allow formation of political groupings in the country, banned since January 1953, a year after the triumph of coup led by Gamal Abdel Nasser.

Since its inception, the all-embracing structure of NDP was confused with the state and its presence was imposed on all institutions of the country favored by laws that constrained the activities of other groups. Also, amid allegations of fraud, swept all the parliamentary elections since its inception, most recently in November-December 2010, which took more than 80 percent of the seats.

This situation, which continued until Mubarak's resignation has left the country orphan with grassroots political groups for the benefit of the Islamist organization the Muslim Brotherhood that, despite working in the semi-clandestine, has become the largest political force. The military junta that runs the country from February 11 issued on 28 March a new law on political parties without the restrictions imposed by the previous regime to allow the emergence of new groupings for the upcoming parliamentary elections scheduled for September.

The popular hatred toward the NDP was reflected during the popular uprising in the burning of its headquarters, located in downtown Cairo. Moreover, after the fall of the former regime has opened a judicial process that has so far led to the imprisonment of the main causes of PND, from President Hosni Mubarak's son to this Gamal, "number three" training , through its general secretary Shafuat the Sheriff or the organizing secretary Ahmed Ezz.

NDP leaders are not being investigated by prosecutors for corruption, anticipating this situation, last week announced the creation of the New National Party. Former members of the now dissolved NDP elected as president of the party opponent and former deputy Anwar al-Sadat's nephew, to Talat Sadat, who promised to clean up corrupt the ranks of New National Party.
