Michèle Alliot-Marie: how far and how long?

How far will he go down into triviality and indignity that the French Minister of Foreign Affairs understands that it undermines the authority to her role? How far will he go in the conflict of interest so that the head of state to understand that the credit of France, which he is liable, is engaged? And he draws the logical conclusion? The new revelations Duck chained to the now famous Tunisian holiday Michele Alliot-Marie, her parents and her boyfriend, Patrick Ollier, Minister of Relations with Parliament, is definitely overwhelming.

When pinned once by the satirical weekly, earlier this month, the minister defended himself publicly before the National Assembly and in the log 20 hours of France 2, February 2. She acknowledges having accepted the invitation of a Tunisian businessman, Aziz Miled, from Tunis to Tabarka win in his private jet.

This "friend," says she, was conveniently out of the airport of Tunis, 29 December 2010, when she arrived from Paris. That friend, says she is not near the Tunisian government, but was, instead, "robbed" by relatives of President Ben Ali. Finally, the Minister of Foreign Affairs claims that the unrest, which led to the leak of the Tunisian president, have started that "at the end of his stay." Three cons-truths.

First, the revolution was triggered Tunisia, from December 17, by suicide Mohamed Bouazizi: Protests began on 19 in Sidi Bouzid and lamented already dead during the riots on 24, five days before arrival the minister. Secondly, Aziz Miled is anything but a victim of the clan Ben Ali: he was bound, on the contrary, even in recent months, in many cases.

Third, how can we imagine that the invitation of Mr. Miled, December 29, was fortuitous, since the next day in Tabarka, this businessman sold to parents of the Minister's interest in a property company which they were already minority shareholders? Ms Alliot-Marie was indignant that one attack after his, "privacy" of his parents.

But she has not shown itself, through its arrangements with the truth, the embarrassment that is his from the beginning? Embarrassment understandable, moreover, as the mixture of genres is evident between family affairs and public offices. Especially when one remembers that, on January 11 again, three days before the fall of Ben Ali, the Minister proposed to the Tunisian authorities, the French know-how in the "resolution of security situations." This case did nothing illegal.

It is simply outrageous. And dangerous. It shows the indifference of a major government ministers to what should be obvious: you can not perform such functions without being above reproach. Do not understand is undermining any respect vis-à-vis the public authority. Article published in the edition of 17.02.11
