Blast against Afghan police cadets leave 13 dead

A suicide bomber caused the death Wednesday of 13 people and left at least 20 others injured in a bomb attack on a minibus that was carrying police cadets in the main city in eastern Afghanistan, said a government spokesman. Ahmadzia Abdulzai, spokesman for the governor of Nangarhar province in the troubled eastern Afghanistan, said the bomber struck a car loaded with explosives into the bus carrying cadets in the city of Jalalabad.

He said the dead and wounded included police and civilians.
