Arrested two suspects in the terrorist attack on the subway in Minsk

The Belarusian security forces have arrested two terrorist suspects on Monday caused 12 deaths and a hundred and fifty wounded in the Minsk metro, as announced by the Deputy Prosecutor General of Belarus Andrei Shved. "One can assume with a high degree of probability that one of those arrested is the perpetrator (the attack)," said Shved, who pointed out that this assumption is based on the study of images captured by security camera meter.

Shved explained that the video recording "it is clear how the suspect arrives at the station (metro) 'Kupálovskaya', low (the) 'Oktiábraskya', is seen on the platform, leaving a bag in a bank, there is progress manipulating something in the pocket of his jerkin, after which the explosion occurs.

" The Deputy Attorney General and head of the task force investigating the terrorist attack has told reporters that both prisoners are Belarusian citizens, who hail from the same city, "is known for a long time and have no criminal record." "They have been subjected to the first interrogation in the presence of lawyers and have given their opening statements," said Shved, who added that investigates the involvement of prisoners in previous attacks, such as that in Minsk from July 3, 2008 , when he detonated a bomb during the celebrations of Independence Day.

According to the investigation, the bomb that exploded in Oktiábrasaya station, a power equivalent to that of at least three kilograms of TNT, contained shrapnel such as ball bearings, nails and metal pieces and sought "to cause maximum damage." The attack happened just minutes from six in the evening rush hour, when the station Oktiábraskaya, linking government buildings and headquarters of major industrial enterprises in the city with the suburbs, was crowded with passengers.

The Belarusian authorities have declared today national day of mourning for the victims of terrorist attack.
