Gaddafi meets Obama and bombed the base Ajdabijah

"Victory or death." Despite the bombing of the Libyan Rais, the rebels announced that they will not stop fighting "until the country will not be released," said the leader Abdel Jalil. A late morning in Algeria Square in Tripoli of gunfire were heard leaving the Friday prayer from the mosque. After the shooting a thick black smoke rose from buildings around the mosque.

After the prayer, several hundred people gathered to protest against Gaddafi in the district "symbol" of Tajoura. The streets were the scene since the beginning of the revolt of many violent incidents that have caused many casualties in both factions. The security forces are dispersing the demonstrators with tear gas.

Meanwhile, the international community is talking to find a common strategy. The head of state Giorgio Napolitano, welcomed the strong warning issued yesterday by the U.S. president, Barack Obama, and pointed out that the "U.S. in no case are willing to use force without a mandate and an international involvement" .

The President spoke on the issue during the Libyan Human Rights Council of the United Nations met today in Geneva. Napolitano said he was deeply concerned about what is happening and announced that the Libyan crisis "will be the starting point" of the Supreme Defence Council meeting to be held Wednesday at the Quirinale.

"I will not go into the merits of options" to the scrutiny of international institutions, said the head of state, remembering how "the situation is complicated by the attitude of defiance of Gaddafi." These "insists on action odious as aerial bombardment, and this is a challenge for all players in the international community who have had enough with these actions." In Libya "developments, the way things are unpredictable." Italy for its part gives "full availability for each type of measure is adopted by the international community has" identity of views with international institutions.

" But the "response" of Obama's warning to Rais portends positive development. Gaddafi has decided to continue and intensify the bombing. This morning, a Libyan military plane launched two rockets at a military base in rebel-held to Ajdabijah in eastern Libya, but he missed the target. They told Reuters the rebels themselves.

"We were sitting here, we heard the jet, then the explosion and the ground shook," said Hassan Faraj, guardian of the ammunition at the base of Haniyeh. According to Faraj missiles "have fallen off the walls." Another guard voluntary, Aziz Saleh, said two rockets were fired, which are finished just outside the boundary walls of the base.

The Air Force pro-Gaddafi had already attacked the base Ajdabiyah earlier this week, hitting both inside and outside the complex, but without destroying anything relevant. The database contains 35 bunkers. According to the Reuters correspondent saw earlier this week, one of these bunkers containing about 10,000 tons of ammunition.

A military officer with the past, the rebels had said that the pilots had the wrong target voluntarily, not to kill other Libyans. The brigades loyal to Muammar Gaddafi is also preparing a new offensive against rebel-held city of Libya. According to reports from the satellite TV al-Arabiya, the Libyan air force is bombing in Tripoli and Misurata Ajdabiya in Cyrenaica, while the ground troops have occupied some oil terminal to Ajdabiya and approached again Brega waiting to start the 'ground offensive.

Sources of opposition from Benghazi ensure that they have sent over 10 thousand volunteers to Ajdabiya and Brega and be ready to reject this new military offensive. Meanwhile, heavy fighting is underway in the Libyan town of Ras Lanuf, west of Ajdabiya, between the brigades and rebels loyal to Muammar Gaddafi of Libya Cyrenaica.

According to reports from the satellite TV al-Jazeera, after conquering the city of al-Uqaylah, west of Brega, the rebels have been pushed up to Ras Lanuf, which is an important port that overlooks the Gulf of Sirte, where there are various oil terminals. TV qatariota also confirms that in these hours are also fighting on the outskirts of al-Zawiyah, in Tripoli.

Meanwhile, two units of the U.S. Navy, the aircraft carrier USS Kearsage and the amphibious assault ship USS Ponce arrived this morning at the base of Souda Bay on the island of Crete as part of the repositioning of the American fleet in relation to the Libyan crisis. 400 marines are from Wednesday at the American base to embark on the two units.

The Kearsage would be the flagship for a possible U.S. naval operation in Libya. Yesterday, the Prime Minister George Papandreou chaired a meeting with foreign ministers, Dimitri Droutsas and defense, Evangelos Venizelos, the situation in Libya and was briefed on the capabilities of the NATO base in Souda.

Venizelos in statements reported by the press, however, it seemed inconceivable that a military operation can not move from Souda Bay, home to Greek foundations, a NATO and an American. In the Mediterranean, according to unconfirmed sources, would be expected in the coming days, other U.S.

warships.
