The European Union recognizes only the ambassadors pro-Ouattara

The countries of the European Union agreed last week not to recognize that "the ambassadors appointed by the president Alassane Ouattara" in Côte d'Ivoire, revealed Wednesday, December 29 the spokesman of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bernard Valero . Last week, a Joint Declaration of Twenty-Seven in Brussels had simply stated, without further explanation that "the EU had decided to take action in support of the democratically elected authorities."


NEW AMBASSADOR IN FrancePari addition, Mr. Valero said that France was working with the Minister Counsellor of Côte d'Ivoire in Paris, that is to say, the number two at the embassy, pending the appointment of Kipré replacing Pierre, a friend of Laurent Gbagbo, who was removed Monday from the Embassy by pro-Ouattara. "President Ouattara has appointed a new ambassador for which the approval procedure is under way," recalled Mr. Valero. In retaliation, the government of Laurent Gbagbo has threatened to return ambassadors in Cote d'Ivoire country who no longer recognize his ambassadors and appoint ambassadors pro-Ouattara.
