Tornadoes afflict the U.S. More than 40 dead in seven states

A series of tornadoes and storms of incredible intensity caused dozens of deaths and many wounded in the south and the Atlantic coasts of the United States. The authorities have stated that it is still a total budget of victims and damage, but so far, would be at least 47 confirmed deaths. The most serious consequences of the hailstorms and high winds that have crossed the last 48 hours the Southern States have occurred mainly in North Carolina: the 24 confirmed dead following the passage of something 62 as a tornado, according to the Meteorological Service reported.


The State governor, Bev Perdue has declared a state of emergency. The wave of bad weather was caused by very specific weather conditions: warm air currents from the Gulf of Mexico have overlapped and mixed with cold air currents from the northern Great Lakes. Changes in temperature above 15-20 degrees led to the formation of tornadoes and violent storms of wind, in many tradottesi in hail of rare intensity.

Roofless homes and felled trees in Arkansas (7 dead since last Thursday), Virginia (4 dead last night), Alabama (7 deaths since Friday), Oklahoma (2 deaths), Mississippi (1 death). And, in fact, North Carolina (24 deaths). The authorities reported that 14 victims were reported only in Bertie County.
