Palestinian Authority will collapse if occupation continues indefinitely: Abbas

.- The Palestinian Authority "will sink" if Israel persists in its need to maintain a military presence in the territory of a future Palestinian state, estimated the organization's president, Mahmoud Abbas, in an exclusive interview. Abbas explained that during the peace negotiations in September 2010, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, told of his desire to hold "for 40 years," a military presence in the border zone along the Jordan Valley in the West Bank.

"If you stay 40 years, that means it is an occupation that he will maintain the occupation. I reply: 'If you insist on it, let your troops here and continue its occupation forever,'" said Abbas, pointing out that Netanyahu rejected the proposed deployment of international forces, especially NATO, on the border.

On the assumption that Israel will be realized, "there will be no Palestinian Authority," warned Abbas, who on many occasions expressed his opposition to the continuance of any Jewish soldier in a future Palestinian state. It is the first time that Abbas speaks loudly about the disappearance of the Palestinian Authority if Israel's permanence in Palestinian territory.

In another interview, Netanyahu said: "We need an Israeli presence along the Jordanian border. We need a physical barrier to prevent infiltration by Iran and its agents." "When we left the Gaza Strip (in 2005), leave a border assistance mission of the European Union along the border with Egypt, who left after the Hamas takeover (in 2007)," said Netanyahu.

"Similarly, the balance of international forces in Lebanon is anything but encouraging. How many Hezbollah agents have arrested the UN Force in Lebanon?" (UNIFIL), he asked. "UNIFIL has prevented Hezbollah increased its arsenal with 60 thousand missiles?" He added. Front blocking the peace process and the sterile negotiations between the two parties to reach an agreement, the Palestinian leadership, which they often refer to the "model South African "nonviolent emancipation, show decided to proclaim an independent state within one year.

The alternatives range from submitting the initiative to the UN and diplomatic contacts to more radical as the suspension of the agreements reached with Israel, and even the dissolution of the Palestinian Authority.
