WHO supports lower risk for nuclear contingency

While the Energy Commissioner of the European Union (EU), Günther Oettinger, called "apocalypse" contingency in Japan following the earthquake disaster, the World Health Organization (WHO) expressed concern about radiation but said that risks to the population are younger. The contingency that gave rise to the second half, "independent experts" to review nuclear power plants in European countries that so wish.

"There is talk of apocalypse and is a particularly well-chosen word (...) almost everything is out of control," Oettinger said before a European Parliament committee in Brussels. The World Health Organization (WHO) said more than 30 kilometers away from the central health risks are minor, "although this could change." The agency said that the relationship between radiation and health risks depends on exposure, which is related to the amount of radiation released, weather conditions, wind direction, distance to find someone to plant and time spent in irradiated areas.

This morning, Japan's chief cabinet, Yukio Edan, said container reactor 3 suffered severe damage and may have high levels of radiation emitted.
