After the struggle of Muammar Gadhafi against opponents to his regime, some of the Western powers have reacted with skepticism. The announcement of an end to military operations Colonel Gadhafi, was televised speech Friday to the Libyan Foreign Minister, Musa Kusa, just after the Security Council of the United Nations (UN) to authorize the air strikes against the regime of Moammar Gadhafi.
Richard Ottaway, chairman of Parliament's Foreign Relations of the United Kingdom stated that this announcement is a sign that international pressure was effective, however, the challenge for the western powers is greater, as discussed between the possibility of act now or postpone its intervention.
Countries like Britain and France are wary of claims of the Libyan leader, suggesting that there remains the proposed military intervention, both nations were the main proponents of military intervention resolution issued by the UN. Barack Obama, U.S. President explained that in Libya, because at this moment has 96 000 troops in Afghanistan and 50 thousand in Iraq.
In this context of statements while some countries have agreed to send troops to pacify the Gadhafi government repression against opponents, and many others have reservations about the possibility to do so immediately, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), composed for about 25 countries, to intervene in Libya.
Belgium and Britain are among the countries that have decided to send combat aircraft to Libya from today, and Spain have announced that naval and air assets for military operations. In the next few hours will define which countries will lead any military operations. On Thursday, the UN approved the use of military force to stop the offensive of Moammar Gadhafi regime against the opposition movement.
Ten countries voted in favor and five abstained: India, Brazil and Germany as permanent members, Russia and China as members with veto power. The immediate predecessor to the current UN resolution, the first occurred last March when all 192 member countries of the UN General Assembly decided by consensus by the expulsion of the Arab country by the Gadhafi government repression against civilians in the protests .
