Saudi Arabia: Police fire on demonstration in the air

Protests in Saudi Arabia have fallen shots. According to Interior Ministry, the police only fired into the air to disperse the Shiite demonstration. Nevertheless, there were several injuries. The police have closed down on Thursday a protest rally by members of the Shiite minority in the east of the country.

Here, the security forces fired into the air. Previously, they were attacked, according to the Interior Ministry of the protesters. Three people were injured, among them a policeman. The security people put stun grenades to disperse about 200 people. The U.S. government said it was monitoring events in Saudi Arabia, however, explicitly endorse the right of peaceful assembly.

In the East, Saudi Arabia, it was in the past few days have been repeated demonstrations of the smaller Shiite minority. For Friday was called for further protests. In many countries in the Arab world, it comes to demonstrations for months. Riots in Egypt and Tunisia are in Saudi Arabia, however, rather unlikely, since the standard of living in the oil-rich country is significantly higher than in neighboring states.
