BUENOS AIRES, 11 Mar. Aguinsky Judge Marcelo has closed the case opened by non-declared that a U.S. military aircraft sought to introduce in Argentine territory, considering that there is no crime, after receiving the report of the Federal Administration of Public Revenue (AFIP). The magistrate has based its decision on the statement of 21 witnesses and "ordered the test measures" during the investigation.
For its part, an investigative source, quoted by the agency Telam, has affirmed that "all information collected led to the closure of the investigation." However, this measure does not equal the total closure of the case, since the discrepancies between the declared and existing material to enter the country in violation of customs rules, framed in the administrative field, where sanctions might be fine , confiscation or destruction of the load.
In its report, AFIP confirmed the existence of "inaccuracies between the goods presented by the United States military authorities and stated in the Request for Temporary Admission filed at the behest of the U.S. Embassy." Thus, notes that among the transported material had "weapons, communication equipment and drugs and psychotropic substances, some of them obsolete.
In the case of weapons, specifically that are automatic, like those used in the Gulf and Afghanistan, banned for use by individuals in Argentina, so that "their illegal entry may have caused to remain on the illegal market." In reference to communications equipment, described as "sensitive", AFIP urged the judge to investigate "what would be its potential use, its main functions and ancillary or supplementary, if they had them, and why not had declared.
The incident on Feb. 10, has strained bilateral relations, since Argentina is considered a good attempt to enter its territory illegally, while the United States argues that this material was intended for the training program local security forces, which had already been done on previous occasions.
