The rebel forces advancing westward Brega

Rebel forces have advanced their front line to the west of Brega, where they managed to repel the attacks yesterday by forces loyal to Qaddafi, and have captured a number of mercenaries working for the Libyan leader. Then, the dissident forces have shown correspondent three young Africans, who appeared to be about 20 years old, arrested in the town of Al Uqayl and had small suitcases.

The two arrested by the opposition seemed intimidated and frightened by the rebels. "They admitted that they were mercenaries. The Arabic speaker admitted," said the volunteer Zwei Salah rebels, after the two alleged mercenaries were introduced into a vehicle for transfer to Ajdabiya. Therefore, the Libyan army has failed in his attempt to reconquer Brega during this morning.

The Libyan aviation bombs have reached the city airport and another rebel position in Ajdabiya, 80 miles Brega, according to the insurgency. Arinconar away from opponents, they have advanced their front line to the coastal town of Al Uqayl, located about 40 miles west of Brega. "I heard the plane's engines, then bang and then I saw the crater left by the bomb," said Mohammed Shibli, who added that the bomb fell near the School of Engineering, Oil Drilling, 2 km from the oil terminal.

"There was an air strike for an hour and a half. I've seen with my own eyes," said Mohammed Awadh meanwhile, a volunteer assigned to the rebel forces. One of the main roads in the country runs along the Mediterranean coast, going from west to east, controlled by rebel forces who have risen up to end the 40-year-Qaddafi in power.

"There is a checkpoint with Gaddafi forces about 80 kilometers from Al Uqayl with Gaddafi about 50 soldiers there. After about 20 kilometers Gaddafi is a base with about 100 vehicles with antiaircraft guns out," said Nasr Ali, an army deserter who was driving eastbound. The Libyan Army deserter, has come in his car from Ras Lanuf, explained that in the town of Al Uqayl has accumulated a large number of forces Gaddafi.

Ras Lanuf is, like Brega, a major oil terminal. The rebels have said they have been expelled from the area Brega to foreign mercenaries and the troops sent to the east of Libya Muammar Gaddafi, now would be concentrated around the town of Ras Lanuf, 600 kilometers from Tripoli and where There is also a large oil terminal.

"Gaddafi's forces are in Ras Lanuf. Our troops, in Brega and Ajdabiya", summed up the rebel commander Abdul Bashir Gadre. Despite the attacks, no one doubts that Gaddafi in Benghazi is a political corpse. But the tyrant will not falter. And yesterday, for the first time, launched his foreign mercenaries to attack in eastern Libya.

This morning, began their assault on Brega, 230 miles from Benghazi, to win its strategic airport and the oil terminal. The loss of this seat would have been a serious setback for the rebels. However, the mobilization of the insurgents was immediate. On the road linking Benghazi and Ajdabiya, the last city controlled by the rebels against Gaddafi before entering no man's land, transit vans full of kids who were going forward with enthusiasm.

Apart from the heat of war, advocates of Brega just counted three old tanks from Russia and three anti-aircraft guns mounted on trucks. In the afternoon, still Brega aviation bombed the dictator, but hired thugs in Nigeria, Chad, Congo and Asian countries had already been expelled. The fighting left at least 14 dead, according to various sources.

In Ajdabiya, in the desert, the frenzy dominated the landscape. Just after ten o'clock, a large explosion was heard in the last control of the rebels in the south of this city, in an area that receives huge arsenals. The nervousness was exacerbated when warplanes flew over the area. The crowd scattered in the race, but dozens of kids and his men were to: clean the antiaircraft missiles and tanks, and opened boxes of ammunition without a break.

"Gaddafi is not tending his army and weapons were in poor condition. Sometimes they shoot, but only to prove that the batteries work," stated one of the controls. Roamed the rebels that often only carrying Kalashnikov rifles or shotguns, but a determination no limit to the cry of "Allah is great." "Only the tanks are handled by soldiers who joined the revolt," explained a uniform.

The confusion took possession of the fighters when the rumor broke that Gaddafi's henchmen advancing toward Ajdabiya. Never confirmed. As it was difficult to verify the demolition of helicopters. "Gaddafi has kidnapped relatives of pilots, but some drop out," said a colonel pilot, who joined the rebel ranks on the first day of the uprising started on 15 February.

"About 400 mercenaries Gaddafi tried to conquer Brega airport to transport more armed men," said an official. In addition to an airfield and facilities from which oil is exported, Brega hosts some deposits of gas supplying Libya and also feed fuel to gas stations in eastern Libya. "In Brega deposits are several dangerous gases, which are now closed and some empty.

From there, gas is supplied to the oil terminals Zuaitina and Benghazi. We ordered few days ago we cut the flow, but only the eastern region. We refuse workers, "said Mashala Agub, an engineer employed in the industry. Moreover, decision-Brega Gaddafi would have allowed Ajdabiya approaching, just 75 miles.

On the outskirts of this city lie vast stores of weapons, 20 km Zuaitina important facilities. At three o'clock in the afternoon, the road to Benghazi more nourished by restless rebels marched toward Brega trucks in the middle of the sandstorm, to put an end to the episode. The insurgents did not were formed and pursued the westbound mercenaries.

There were also clashes in Sebrata and Gharyan, two cities near Tripoli, a bastion of Gaddafi unable to break the siege. Conscious of the failure, Gaddafi yesterday again clung to the view of murky plot. "There is a conspiracy to dominate the oil from Libya and that his land is colonized again ...

Never again be slaves as we were Italians, "said the satrap, who warned:" We will enter into a bloody war and thousands of Libyans killed if the United States or NATO intervene. "Meanwhile, the words of his son Saif the Islam, which repeats ad nauseam that the country is calm, raise laughter.

Because this stability is far to settle in a country where food stores are almost empty, the production of crude oil, sunk, and its export to a minimum. Not to mention the hundreds, perhaps thousands, of victims has led to the ruling.
