Italy withdraws ambassador from Syria

Italy has recalled its ambassador from Damascus, Syria's Defense Minister receives ban on entry into the EU, the UN Security Council is struggling to a resolution. In light of the brutal violence of the security forces against the popular uprising in Syria, Italy has recalled its ambassador to Damascus for consultations.


Foreign Minister, Franco Frattini, temporarily recalled to Rome the ambassador Achille Amerio because of "horrific" violence against the Syrian population. Italy therefore advised to all other EU countries to emulate it.

On Sunday the army moved tanks into the stronghold of Hama protest, but in this application, according to human rights activists, 100 people were killed. The United Nations kept the information to be credible. The UN Security Council on Monday showed concern over the escalating violence.
