The U.S. president, Barack Obama, will announce on Wednesday the details of the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan.
It is expected that the Obama will publicize the number of soldiers to be the first to return and the rate at which the withdrawal will proceed, as well as projects to gradually transfer security to Afghan forces. The confirmation of Obama's announcement comes after the White House spokesman, Jay Carney, said yesterday in his daily briefing: "The president is still in the process of finalizing its decision on the scope and pace of withdrawal will begin in July 2011."
