At least 44 people died, Monday, June 20 evening, the crash landing on a highway from a Russian aircraft near the airport in Petrozavodsk, Karelia, north-west Russia. "The latest information, 52 people were aboard the plane, 44 died and eight were injured," said a ministry official emergency situations.
The plane, a Tupolev TU-134 belonging to the company RussAir, attempted to land shortly before midnight on a highway, one kilometer from the airport in Petrozavodsk.The aircraft fuselage and the plane broke into flames. The bodies were scattered on the highway, said a source in the aviation industry to the agency Interfax, adding that the plane almost hit residential buildings while trying to land.
