Russia calls for bombing halt 'indiscriminate' in Libya

Russia on Sunday urged the military to attack targets in Libya to stop the''indiscriminate''use of force, according to Moscow, has left civilian deaths. The attacks by the aviation have exceeded the provisions of a Security Council resolution the United Nations, which approved impose a flight ban area and authorized all necessary measures to protect civilians, said Foreign Ministry spokesman Russian Alexander Lukashevich, in a statement.

Russia was among five countries that abstained from voting on the resolution approving military action. The spokesman said the attacks by the United States and Europe have given non-military targets, in the Libyan capital and in three other cities. As a result, he said, 48 civilians were killed and over 150 wounded, while a medical facility was partially destroyed.''In this series of events we call upon the States concerned to stop the indiscriminate use of force,'' Lukashevich said.

Russia also announced Sunday that Tripoli would evacuate part of its diplomatic personnel and other citizens, and planned to send them by road through Tunisia in the coming days. Not specified the number of evacuees. The foreign ministry also urged all participants in the military operation to ensure the safety of Russian citizens, specifically the evacuees.
