Tunisian government party suspends activities Ben Ali

.- The Tunisian government has decided to suspend all activities of the Democratic Constitutional Rally (RCD) party of ousted President Ben Ali, which is the first step towards its dissolution. In a statement broadcast on public television, the Interior Ministry said it had decided to "suspend all activities of the RCD, to ban any meeting or rally organized by members and close all premises belonging to this party or managed by him." Shortly after the minister of Interior, Fahrat Rajhi, said on state television that these measures were taken "pending file a formal complaint to the courts for the dissolution" of the party and to clarify the events of this weekend " .

At least seven people have died since last Thursday in clashes between protesters and police and rioting in three different regions of Tunisia, Sidi Bouzid, El Kef and Kebili. Buzid In Sidi burned to death two protesters detained on Thursday night after an unknown group burned down the police cell where they were from the outside.

This action was attributed to the RCD militia and supporters of Ben Ali for witnesses to the events. The Interior Minister said today on state television about the events in Sidi Buzid "all signs lead to those responsible for the RCD" and therefore had decided to suspend the activity of this party.

The transitional government has repeatedly attributed to supporters of deposed president or paid by the RCD militia attacks that have occurred in some cities. Since the flight from the country of Ben Ali on 14 January, thousands of protesters have demanded the dissolution Tunisia throughout the RCD, the powerful party that held all the levers of central power, regional and local levels during the 23 years of the previous regime.

This training, which had more than two million members in a population of ten million, was founded by Ben Ali in 1988 as successor to the Neo Destour, the party of the first president of independent Tunisia, Habib Bourguiba. In the last legislative elections of 2009 had obtained, according to official data, over 85 percent of the vote.

The RCD was a member of the Socialist International, an organization of which he was excluded on 17 January at the request of the French Socialists.
