Cambodia appeals to UN against "aggression" Thai

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen called on Sunday for the UN to help "stop the agresssionpar Thailand" after clashes between the two armies at the border, according to a statement read on state television. Clashes had taken place the night of Friday to Saturday between Thai and Cambodian soldiers on the border between the two countries, leaving one dead and four wounded in the ranks of Thailand.

Friday, three Cambodians - two soldiers and a tourist - and a Thai farmer had been killed, 3,000 civilians were evacuated from the region. The press in both countries reported balances significantly heavier. Bangkok and Phnom Penh dispute the sovereignty of a portion of territory of 4.6 square kilometers around the eleventh century temple called Preah Vihear by Cambodians and Khao Phra Viharn by Thais.

Saturday, the situation seemed appeased after the establishment of a cease-fire, while clashes took place in the morning. But on Sunday, new clashes occurred at the border, ostensibly without casualties.
