The Africa back to the center

The World Social Forum which ended on February 11 here in Dakar was particularly appropriate for the times and places. In fact, the general purpose of these kinds of meetings, beginning with one held ten years ago in Porto Alegre, is to give space and voice to global civil society, in a context marked by the uncontrolled growth of the power of multinational corporations and financial resources.

Coming to Africa this year is especially significant in the face of experience essential as the true revolutions which took first place recently in Tunisia and then in Egypt. Of course, the primary thrust of these massive demonstrations was the desire to get rid of unbearable dictatorships, but also to react against the processes of dispossession and hoarding of wealth that lead to rich countries like those in Africa suffering from hunger and misery.

E 'was seized by the link between these revolutions and dictatorships the world system of domination of the economy. Their impact is still far from exhausted both the internal and the countries already involved (both in Tunisia and Egypt to witness the unleashing of sacrosanct economic demands as well as deepening and radicalization of demands to fight corruption and purge of public officials more loyal to the dictators), and on that of its extension, at the international level, to other Arab countries (especially Algeria, Yemen, Libya, Morocco), but also in Africa, such as Gabon where young people take to the streets against a regime that has little to envy to those of Ben Ali and Mubarak.

And if you come to Europe, where they also suffer the consequences of the diktat of the banks and the weight of public debt? If in Italy, as well as mobilize properly against the abuses and arrogance of a satrap sessuomane old, starting to move on these fundamental issues affecting the future of humanity? The sign ...

and Africa is moving, even slowly (Dankan Danka as they say here in Senegal), but surely ... Here began the history of humanity and the awakening of the people is now a prerequisite for survival. The Forum, with its discussions and suggestions on issues such as the free movement of persons, protection of food sovereignty and peace based on self-determination of peoples is a fundamental point of reference for those who want to try this business, and not is content to live as a cog in a system mean devoted to disaster.
