France said that Gbagbo has only a thousand men

The outgoing president of the Ivory Coast, Laurent Gbagbo, has only''thousand''in Abidjan, including 200 found in his residence, where it resists the attacks of the forces of President-elect, Alassane Ouattara. French Defense Minister, Gerard Longuet, said the United Nations Mission in Côte d'Ivoire (UNOCI) has 10 000 members, of whom two thousand 500 are deployed in Abidjan, the economic capital of the African country, reported Le Figaro daily.

To the Committees of Defence and Foreign Affairs of the French Senate, Longuet said that France also has 700 thousand soldiers, while Ouattara tactical groups have about two thousand men. Gbabgo''The residence is at the heart of the embassy and surrounding buildings pose a considerable challenge as they are tactical firing positions that allow each other to neutralize this or that obstacle,''he said.

Given the weak support for Gbabgo and the assault on his residence in Abidjan, the fall of the outgoing president is''inevitable''and''will occur in the coming hours or in the coming days,''said French Foreign Minister, Alain Juppe. He said that the action force to oust Gbagbo Abidjan is''attributable''to the outgoing president himself, after resolving the situation, the Ivory Coast will be devoted to the task of reconciliation.

Gbagbo''has run the risk of provoking a civil war in his country, has made a real assault on the central bank in Ivory Coast and has fired on the civilian population, "Juppe said in his speech in the Senate. Last night''intervene to ensure the safety of Japanese diplomats,''said French Foreign Minister, who said that the Japanese government requested through the United Nations that France intervened to evacuate its embassy in Abidjan.

According to the French embassy in Abidjan, French troops intervened Licorne to rescue the Japanese ambassador in Abidjan, whose residence is located near the presidential residence, was attacked last night by mercenaries loyal to Gbagbo. On Thursday, the Republican Forces of Côte d'Ivoire (Frei), loyal to Ouattara, again attacked the presidential palace in Abidjan and Gbagbo's residence, after a failed assault on Wednesday the goal of Ouattara's forces oust Gbagbo's bunker where it is entrenched to allow Ouattara to take up his post of new head of state.

Gbagbo, president of Ivory Coast since 2000, refuses to admit he lost the presidential election last November against Ouattara despite strong international pressure.
