Arrested opposition politicians: protests are announced in Iran

The arrest of two Iranian opposition politicians Karrubi and Mousavi has caused outrage among the opponents of the regime. New mass demonstrations are announced, protests and the West. But the leadership in Tehran forbids any interference from outside. The Iranian authorities deny that the two opposition leaders Hossein Mousavi and Mahdi Karrubi with their wives were brought into the high security prison Heschmatijeh.

But for the families of the abduction is common: "We see our parents as kidnapped, held hostage in the hands of Iran's regime," the children Karrubis wrote in a letter published on reform websites. Even a protest of the green movement coupled, high-ranking officer in the Revolutionary Guards had confirmed the operations, according to the website of opposition supporters.

The arrest of the two opponents of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was not surprising. Mousavi and Karroubi had verln in the summer of 2009, rigged elections to Ahmadinejad, and were subsequently to become symbolic figures protests against the vote. Against the demonstrators in the streets went before the Iranian state power through brutality, violence, imprisonment and torture.

, Killing about 100 activists, over 1,000 protesters were arrested. Against the idols of the voluntary reform of state powers was now a more subtle means: Her family members were harassed, arrested and killed. Karrubi was defeated at public appearances even more than once. The offices of the two politicians were raided and closed, surrounded their homes.

For two weeks were Mousavi and Karrubi and their wives under arrest. All communication with the outside world - be it with their adult children - were denied them. The Iranian opposition movement has already called for this Tuesday for demonstrations. But now, the protests could be even greater.

On social media like Facebook and saw the arrest of Iranian blogs and Mousavi Karrubi on Monday even for a storm of indignation. On the Facebook side of the Green movement, it stated: "The regime has crossed the red line morning's our turn to us to rise up against them.." Were goaded by the revolutions in the Arab world green activists in recent weeks, returned twice to the streets.

The state power slammed brutal, at least three demonstrators were killed and arrested an unknown number. The Arab protests are reinterpreted But not only on the road should the arrest of Moussaoui Karrubi and provide for angry reactions. "Followers of the two opposition leaders in Parliament and political parties will make a lot of noise," Middle East expert Scott Lucas predicted in an analysis of the Iran-blog "Enduring America.

In the coming days would certainly condemn the arrests ayatollahs. Ayatollah Yusef Sanei, and the Grand Ayatollah Ali Mohammed Dastgheib had already criticized the house arrest of the two politicians sharp.

The regime in Tehran, meanwhile, tried for weeks to reinterpret the riots in Tunisia, Egypt and Libya, now in his mind: After the insurgents there merely mimic the Iranian Revolution in 1979. The seeds of the "Islamic awakening" that Iran had deployed over 30 years ago would now at last, Ahmadinejad said on the anniversary of the Iranian revolution in the middle of February.

But what will happen to Moussaoui and Karrubi? Tehran's regime has in recent weeks repeatedly threatened the two men condemned for "treason" to the death. In a petition demanding the 200 parliamentarians, clerics and regimes squad in early February, the two men were due to "infiltration of the regime" and "cooperation with foreigners" were arrested and hanged.

The head of the judiciary, Ayatollah Mousavi Sadek Larijani called for the death and Karrubis. Moussaoui himself had already signaled to the beginning that he expects that the regime is waging a power struggle in Tehran on life and death. He was willing to die for the rights of the Iranian people, he wrote in January on his website.

He did not hesitate to implement the religious and national rights of the people to be a martyr, wrote Mousavi, who seeks reforms within the existing system. On the international protests against the arrest of Teheran reacted as usual stubborn: We will not stand in any Western intervention.

Whether they are a national matter, which was used by foreign governments to back Iran in a bad light, a Foreign Ministry spokesman said on Tuesday at the weekly press conference of his house.
