The Italian parliament rejects federalist reform gets in trouble for Berlusconi

The bicameral committee of the Italian Parliament voted today the decree on municipal fiscal federalism presented by the government of Silvio Berlusconi, the end result was a tie, 15 votes to 15 against, which is a blow to the Executive that further shakes the fragile center-right majority, whose leadership has been urgently summoned by the prime minister's palace at noon Grazioli.

The bicameral tie is in fact the first rejection by Parliament to decree led the Northern League as a condition for continuing to support Berlusconi, and although the Village of Liberty has been quick to say that the result will not stop the federalist reform, the League had demanded an unequivocal yes, and now meditates unplug the respirator that keeps up to Berlusconi in the midst of scandal Arcore parties.

The decision is now in the hands of Umberto Bossi, leader of the League and Minister for Reforms, which must choose whether to submit the decree to the vote by the full House or write the epitaph of the third Berlusconi government, in power since May 2008. Although most have tried to change the text voted on throughout the morning to find votes in favor, the refusal of Mario Baldassarri a senator for the Future and Freedom, the group of dissident LDP Gianfranco Fini, has ended up tipping the balance against the executive and the opposition was quick to ask, once again, Berlusconi's resignation.

Interpretations of the value of the decision of the commission are in any case differ. "The decree has been rejected, but apparently only advisory, and the government can safely go ahead with the decree," said the vice president of the Chamber, Antonio Leone, the Village of Liberty. "No election, we're moving", has strengthened the president of the bicameral, Enrico La Loggia, also the ruling party.

The Democratic Party, by contrast, has explained that the tie is in fact a double defeat of the Government, as "grave means that both the content of the decree as a political initiative, so most people must draw their conclusions: the Government has the votes to approve the federalism and must open the government crisis, "said Davide Zoggia, head of the local PD.

For his part, Economy Minister Giulio Tremonti as a champion of reform desired by the Northern League to redistribute federal taxation criteria, reordering public expenditure according to criteria of efficiency and curb what the league called the waste of Southern ruling class, has simply answered "no comment" to reporters.
