Frattini's silence on foreign policy

The results of the referendum confirm that almost all of southern Sudanese have voted for the secession of the southern regions of the North and the Khartoum government. With a turnout that leaves no shadows: more than 90 percent. In short, next July would be born the 54th African state. It is a historic event for the continent and an upheaval in the geopolitical balance in the heart of Africa: all relations with neighboring countries - and even less close - will change, there will be a race to the vast resources of the South (most oil, precious woods, mines, land, agricultural products), there will be several industrialized countries (the United States on his head, so did their utmost for the success of the referendum) eager to build relationships and relations with the new political leadership and we will a whole state to be built, given the almost total absence of facilities and infrastructure in South Sudan.

Well, where is Italy? Living in this country, it is almost natural to have a look for signs of life in our Foreign Ministry and our cooperation in relation to epochal events do not say but some international significance. Instead, nothing. Manco two lines of customary statement. Just nothing.

Romano Prodi noted the lack of any unified European position on this issue. Nothing of the Italian did not even care. Of course, it is not at stake the fate of Italian relations with South Sudan. But it is also true that this opportunity is just another confirmation of the above: the international voice of our foreign minister is not never rises, the diplomatic action can not be seen, the Italian initiative does not exist.

Not to mention disregard for the commitments, cut funds to cooperation (a record low this year and bringing up the rear among the donor countries), we do not pay on time even the Global Fund to fight the pandemic in poor countries. By now we hope that the international balance in Lesotho (which is why ultimately "holes" all routes to prestigious posts, the EU and UN? Whether this brilliant skilled Italian experts who are often snubbed at all levels? ).

We never shone much in planetary forums, even at the time of the First Republic, but in recent years, Berlusconi we just evaporated. Except for one thing: the sneer that the international press devotes almost daily to bunga bunga, the feast of Arcore or sexual prowess of the premier. Yes on this, our Minister Frattini has labored to act decisively and authoritatively.

To enforce the Italian honor.
