Israel Labor Party: hate wave against Barak

Ehud Barak's flight from the Labor Party horrified Israel. The defense minister is showered with hate, accused of being traitors and Gravedigger: Because he sealed the end of social democracy, but in the government of Prime Minister Netanyahu remains - the further drift to the right. When the three new ministers take their oath of office, several Kadima members room sprays pull out of their pockets and spray it around.

"Against the stench of this deal between Barak and Prime Minister," they shout. Parliament folder, hurry hurry, the Knesset speaker yells: "You are a disgrace to Israeli democracy." Then the MPs are expelled from the Parliament. Stinking policy, call the Israelis what Defense Minister Ehud Barak said on Monday: The elimination of the Labor Party and founded a new party with the beautiful name of "independence".

Barak's new party, according to its own description "moderate, Zionist and democratic," probably the world record breaking in the ratio of members and ministers - only five members it has, but only four ministers. Regardless, they will not stay long, because according to surveys, it is currently only a few percentage points in elections, they would probably not make it into the Knesset.

A "virtual brigade of the Likud" some call it. Because it should not take long to join the rebels of the Party of Benjamin Netanyahu. In order that the danger of a coalition crisis and possible election is over, because in a few months would have a party meeting place of the Labor Party, in which the disgruntled members would have forced a withdrawal from the coalition - and Barak's resignation as party leader to do so.

That was the reason for this for weeks by Barak and Netanyahu in secret prepared coup that benefits both: Netanyahu's coalition still retains a majority, with 66 of 120 seats. Barak keeps his ministerial office - and thus achieved its primary goal: to save himself. The blame him, most Israelis.

Ehud Barak was already the most hated man of Israeli politics, now he is showered on the Internet, on TV and comments with hate, insults and ridicule. In thousands of Tweets make the Israelis their anger, they call him a foreign spy, a traitor, destroyers, collaborator and undertaker, and also "Ehud Barah", which means in Hebrew: Ehud runs away.

His four henchmen? Liliputanter and opportunists, those are still the nicest terms. Einat Wilf, one of the four followers of Barak was, so far as the young hope of the Labor Party, an economic expert, a U.S. university graduate, smart, convincing. Those who talked with her before, she told of how proud she was to be a member of the Labor Party.

Now she says she has no objection to join the Likud. "There are many pragmatic and moderate elements." It is this kind of opportunism that makes many Israelis angry. In surveys say 82 percent, Barak had left the party to remain defense minister. Only eleven percent believe he did it in the interest of the country.

In Israel, makes you look over the management staff disillusioned. Ex-President Katzav has just been convicted of rape, ex-Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has misappropriated funds and private donations accepted, running against Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman also investigations of corruption.

The future is already army chief before taking office on suspicion of illegally acquired public land to have, is against the candidate for the post as the new chief of police under investigation for rape. Barak's resignation from the Labor Party has not only shaken the political landscape, he will also have far-reaching consequences for years to come.

The most obvious is the end of traditional social democracy in Israel. At the same time the right-wing nationalist politics is further strengthened. Negotiations with the Palestinians should not be difficult to simultaneously increase the likelihood of a war against Iran.
