Clinton reaffirmed U.S. support for Japan visit

.- The Secretary of State, United States, Hillary Clinton, today reaffirmed the commitment to cooperation between Washington and Tokyo on the reconstruction efforts following China's 9.0 earthquake and tsunami of 11 March. Clinton met on Sunday with his Japanese counterpart, Takeaki Matsumoto, who said U.S.

support. He said the U.S. will continue to provide all possible support to Japan to resolve the nuclear crisis in the affected central Fukushima I. Meanwhile, Matsumoto said Japan will strive to regain control of the damaged nuclear plant. Clinton arrived in Tokyo on Sunday for an official visit of less than 24 hours, to also meet with Prime Minister, Naoto Kan, and attend a tea ceremony as guest of the Emperor Akihito and Michiko.

It is also expected to explain the U.S. plan to continue offering equipment and technology support to assist in the problem of Fukushima nuclear power plant. United States mobilized more than twenty thousand troops from bases in Japan, 160 aircraft and 20 ships to help with emergency relief activities and after the 9.0 Richter scale earthquake and subsequent tsunami that devastated the archipelago on March 11.
