MADRID, 29 Mar. Foreigners may study permit access to the selection process for entry into the U.S. Army Corps of Armed Forces Health Service in their field of medicine, after the Ministry of Defence has amended the regulations governing these processes, which until now required applicants without Spanish nationality to a temporary residence permit or long term.
The change appears contained in Royal Decree published in the Official State Bulletin (BOE) last Saturday, by amending the rules of admission to educational training of the Armed Forces. Thus, nationals of countries determined that the call from those who can access the Armed Forces - Argentina, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, El Salvador, Equatorial Guinea, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Dominican Republic, Uruguay and Venezuela - will be eligible for selection processes if they are in Spain "at student residence." AS FOR THE MIR As reported by the Daily Buzz World Defense Ministry sources, the change equates the selection process in the Armed Forces is required to access training as Resident Medical Intern (MIR) by the Ministry of Education .
The previous situation "prevented the entry and military complement in the specialty of medicine, medical foreign securities approved by the Ministry of Education, which, however, could study the different medical specialties in the national health system." With the new provision, "even" the conditions to the MIR and expand the requirements to enter the armed forces to the student residence permit in Spain, needed to study for longer than six months.
Foreigners belonging to these countries can also enter the Spanish armed forces through the selection process to become military army and navy, while maintaining the maximum 9% of non Spanish that allows Defense. The only way to enter as an officer without Spanish nationality is it as a military physician.
This measure adds to the already announced by the Department that manages Carme Chacón last January regarding the possibility of Defense funded medical studies people who wish to join the army and the navy and army doctors. The project, which the sources would not be ready before the year 2012/2013, provides that, once finished the race and started his career as a military doctor, to establish a minimum commitment of 12-year stay in the military.
The Ministry funded the studies in medical schools and public schools to pay the salary of the young aspirants who are entitled to carry out studies as cadets to become officers, as in the higher military academies.
