BRASILIA, Brazil 4 Mar. support the idea of military intervention in Libya to end the crisis, provided that this action had the support of the Security Council United Nations, said Friday Brazilian Foreign Minister, Antonio Patriota . "Any military initiative, including the-fly, can only occur with due regard to the rigor of the United Nations," Patriota said in a speech in Beijing, where he is on official visit, as reported by the Foreign Ministry said in a statement .
Brazil is currently non-permanent member of the Security Council of UN, so any proposal to deploy troops in Libyan territory would go through his hands. Patriot recalled that the Government of Dilma Rousseff last week voted for the suspension of Libya Human Rights Council of the UN because it defends the right of opposition to the regime of Muammar Gaddafi to express themselves and protest freely and without repression.
"Brazil is in favor of freedom of speech, improving the defense of human dignity and hope that the dialogue occurs within a peaceful and no violations," said the chief diplomat. Also, Patriot has been in favor of supporting "any migratory waves" of Arabs to Europe, and of reforming the "proposal for the establishment of nuclear weapon-free zones in areas with outbreaks of tension" as the Middle East.
"It is important to ensure humanitarian assistance," he stressed.
