Berlusconi to be tried in April on child and bribery prostitucin

Silvio Berlusconi has another appointment today marked with the law. Will (if nothing prevents it) on 6 April at 9.30am, the Court of Milan. Judge Cristina di Census Bureau has ruled that the prime minister must be processed immediately by the rite for the alleged crimes of bribery and prostitution of minors, as requested by prosecutors who have investigated the Ruby case, the nickname of the young Moroccan Karim El Maghour that according to the prosecution visited a dozen times to Berlusconi at his home in Arcore (north of Milan) when it was still a minor.

In its opinion, the GIP (short for Judge for Preliminary Investigation), has scheduled the first hearing was held on the 4 th Criminal Section of the Court of Milan, which means that the school's judge on Berlusconi, 74, be composed of three women: Carmen D'Elia, Giulia Orsola De Cristofaro and Turri.

The Prime Minister has canceled a press conference in Catania on the arrival of thousands of Tunisian immigrants in Lampedusa, has arrived this afternoon at his Rome residence, Palazzo Grazioli. I was waiting for one of his lawyers, the deputy of his training Niccolò Ghedini. Di Censo resolution fully confirms the argument by prosecutors that there is clear evidence against the tycoon and politician, who now has 15 days to decide whether you qualify for a simplified procedure, which on conviction would be granted a discount of third of the sentence.

The decision of Judge Milan has caused a cascade of reactions. The opposition Democratic Party spokesman, Dario Franceschini, said that "Berlusconi must go to defend himself before the judges and all those who have nothing to hide." He added that Il Cavaliere "should resign to spare his country the embarrassment before the world to have a prime minister indicted for child prostitution and bribery." Justice Minister Angelino Alfano has harshly criticized the judges and says: "They have not taken into account that voted last week the House of Representatives" (which is for the court case of ministers).

"This case brings into play the sovereignty and independence of Parliament." To reporters who asked whether she will resign Berlusconi, Alfano has answered: "And the presumption of innocence?" Then all the accused are guilty and should resign? Berlusconi has great legitimacy that has been granted the Italians.

" Up to 15 years in prison on bribery of public official (concussion or abuse of power) is illegal in Italy with a maximum of 12 years imprisonment, and child prostitution with a maximum of three, so Berlusconi risks a sentence of up to 15 years in addition to the permanent injunction to public office.

The first reaction of Berlusconi's lawyers have been apparent tranquility. "We did not expect anything," said Piero Longo, which is next to Niccolò Ghedini political defense. Longo senator has even added a footnote: "Wow, the ladies are always welcome, and sometimes even enjoyable." The defense is entitled to file claims, including with respect to the question of jurisdiction of the courts.

Berlusconi's lawyers based their strategy on the claim that the Prosecutor of Milan is not competent to judge the prime minister, because this task belongs to the court ministers. Tells the judge's ruling that the prosecution has accused Berlusconi of having abused his capacity as chairman of the Government, to induce the officials of the Milan police headquarters the night of 27 to 28 May, to award custody Ruby to the regional deputy Nicole Minetti, and for having had sex with a young Moroccan Arcore.

According to the resolution, the aggrieved parties in the process are the young Moroccan Ruby and three police officers in Milan suffered the alleged abuse of power by Berlusconi when he called headquarters to ask them to release the girl, who had been stopped.
