Riots in Egypt leave three dead

At least one policeman and two civilians were killed in Egypt during the day of protests which took place today in the country, sources said the security services. The policeman, identified as Ahmed Abdelaziz, was wounded in Tahrir Square in the center of this capital, but died while being treated at a hospital, while two civilians were killed in the northern town of Suez, the sources added.

The officer was hit in the head in clashes that took place between police and protesters, and he fell to the ground was trampled by a stampede of people. Died while being treated at Hussein Hospital, Cairo. In addition to the fatality there were dozens of wounded in Tahrir Square, including police officers and demonstrators.

In Suez, the entrance channel of the same name, the two civilians were shot by rubber bullets, the sources of the security services. In that same town there were 63 wounded, including four policemen, one of the deputy security chief of the town, the sources added. Tens of thousands of people took to the streets in Cairo and elsewhere in the country called by opposition groups calling for political reforms and the end of the Emergency Law, in force since 1981.

Most of the demonstrations took place peacefully. Police arrived to withdraw from Tahrir Square in the heart of Cairo, with the arrival of thousands of protesters, but there were sporadic riots there and in adjacent areas.
