Iran announces the dismantling of a network of spies

According to information posted on state television, the Iranian Intelligence Ministry announced Monday, January 10 have dismantled a "network of spies and terrorists linked to the Zionist regime." He added that "most responsible" for the assassination of Iranian nuclear physicist Masood Ali Mohammadi, in January 2010, have been arrested in this operation.

On January 12, 2010, a motorcycle bomb killed Masood Ali Mohammadi, a leading nuclear physicist who taught at Tehran University but also working for the Revolutionary Guards (Pasdaran, the Iranian armed forces elite). The attack had been assigned by Tehran to "mercenaries" acting on behalf of Israeli intelligence and U.S..

"After several months of effort (...) and infiltration of the intelligence system of the Zionist regime (...), very important information about teams and operational intelligence Mossad have been discovered," the statement said, referring to "the heavy blows "carried in the service of Israel.

According to the text, "the Mossad had bases in some countries and outside Europe, and in some neighboring countries, and used them for the assassination of Massoud Ali Mohammadi. Two other important scientific leaders of Iran's nuclear program have been victims of bombings in Tehran on November 29.

One was killed and another wounded in these attacks by Iran attributed to the Mossad and the CIA. Following the attacks, authorities announced the arrest of a "team formed in a neighboring country to kill" Iranian nuclear scientists. The prosecutor of Tehran, Abbas Jafari Dolatabadi, had then said that this team had provided "good indications" to dismantle the networks that led the attacks in January and December 2010.
