Seoul rejects the offer of dialogue in Pyongyang

South Korea has rejected, Monday, January 10, the new offer of dialogue made by Pyongyang, saying the communist regime should be judged more on his actions than his words. "The offer of dialogue from the North is subject to any condition and there is no doubt about the real intentions" of Pyongyang, the statement of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland, quoted Saturday by the official agency KCNA.

This new offering dialog, which follows a first made Wednesday, was found Saturday in Seoul more concrete than the first. It seems to be a sign of appeasement in the peninsula, the theater late November bombing of a South Korean island in the North. But the Ministry of Unification of South Korea said Monday that he rejected the new offer.

"It is difficult to regard this as a sincere offer of dialogue," said his spokesman, Chun Hae-Sung, adding that the North had to first demonstrate its seriousness about its denuclearization. "The door for dialogue is open if North Korea shows a sincere attitude," said Chun. Tensions had suddenly brightened November 23, when Pyongyang has bombed a South Korean island near its coasts.

The North is also accused of having torpedoed corvette in March 2010 a South Korean whose 46 sailors were killed. Monday, Seoul announced it would install detectors underwater near the disputed border area to protect against a possible attack submarines from North Korea, said the press.

The newspaper Maeil Business Newspaper, the detectors will be installed near the Yellow Sea islands located a few kilometers from the North Korean coast, including Yongpyong island, bombarded in late November by the North. The control center responsible for monitoring these sensors will be located on the island of Baengnyeong, the nearest North Korean coast.

Sign of abating, however, in the peninsula, North Korea has reduced its military alert level before the crisis triggered the end of November, involving a similar movement from the South Korean army and U.S., had said Friday the agency South Korean Yonhap.
