Not only an act of revenge

Little wonder that those who have perpetrated the deadly bombing in Pakistan that allude, in claiming responsibility for the events, the death of Osama bin Laden and submit it as an act of retaliation for it. But even if the terrorist organization that has long held most of the terrorist attacks in the country, especially in the northwest tribal areas of the province and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Therik e Taliban Pakistan (TTP, Taliban Movement of Pakistan), threatened to develop activities for revenge a few days after being shot the then leader of al Qaeda.

TTP is an entity affiliated with Al Qaeda, which in fact has provided and provides protection for many of the leaders, cadres and members of this terrorist structure. Now is not the first time that attacks of this magnitude occur in Pakistan, generally attributed to TTP, but it is true that this is the first of these characteristics that occurs after the death of Osama bin Laden in Abbottabad, so we would to an attempt, by these jihadist Pakistani or some faction thereof, to raise the intensity of their acts of terrorism within the framework of a campaign that has maintained without interruption for years.

Within Pakistani territory, the possibility of suicide attacks against U.S. citizens and interests is very limited due to the scarcity of such potential targets and high protection. One option also negligible in the tribal areas situated to the northwest, where such targets are lacking.

However, Pakistani security agencies, especially the paramilitary forces operating in those areas of the country, offering many more targets of opportunity. Moreover, these agencies and bodies have been being a frequent target of bombings and attacks by the Pakistani Taliban, as they often face them.

In fact, Pakistani security forces had recently conducted an offensive against them in Mohmand, where there have been strong. In addition, the Pakistani Taliban accuse the authorities of your country, or part thereof, to facilitate counter-terrorist operations by the United States within Pakistan, especially through the use of missiles fired from unmanned aircraft, of which Last year only held about one hundred and fifty, mostly in the tribal areas referred to, and not having prevented that on May 2, much closer to Islamabad this time, just the life of Osama bin Laden and some of their relatives.

Nothing indicates that the evolution and dynamics of jihadist terrorism in Pakistan will change in the short term. It is likely that the attacks against both military and Pakistani police against the civilian population and that ignores the instructions of the Taliban, continue to occur, as in the past two or three years, especially in the northwest.

But also, it is anticipated that TTP or other jihadist groups active in the country carried out on more spectacular attacks in cities of Punjab province and in the capital, Islamabad. That is, do not expect substantial changes in the frequency, truly remarkable, with which jihadist terrorism attacks in Pakistan, although it is plausible to think that the different collective actors involved in such violence, all associated in one way or another Al Qaeda, seek to perpetrate acts of terrorism particularly lethal or meanings, whose implementation is presented as part of a revenge for the U.S.

operation on Pakistani soil, ended the life of Osama bin Laden.
