Immigrants, Bossi shouts "foer the ball. And in Europe, the League that the protection for refugees

While in Italy, the League would like to see the refugees landed in Lampedusa "foer the ball" in Europe calls for the implementation of exceptional measures to accommodate. In Strasbourg it was voted by a large majority a report of initiative (and therefore worthless legislation) made by the League's Fiorello Provera claiming the application of Directive 55 of 2001, which provides exceptional temporary protection to refugees.

The EU legislation in question would allow the refugees to Lampedusa to receive a residence permit, the right to employment, housing, social care, health care and education system. Treatment of all respect with even the possibility for relatives to ask for the family reunion. How can such a difference of views within the Northern League? All this could be explained by anything but veiled desire to "share" the bulky package of refugees with other Member States.

"No country can cope alone with an emergency of this size, (...) I hope that Europe can work effectively and mobilize resources to help Italy," Provera said on the sidelines of the vote. However, an aid that can materialize only on "voluntary basis", explained the EU Commissioner for Internal Affairs Cecilia Malmstrom in a speech in the House, however, that Commissioner has backed the Italian request for help: "I appeal to Member States that are not supportive only in words.

" The Malmstrom, however, would reject "the accusation that so far Brussels has not helped Italy," recalling such commitments in the field of Frontex. Certainly the recent positions taken by other EU countries do not bode well about a 'sense of shared responsibility. " Lega also hopes to let "leak" the refugees through Italy to the rest of Europe thanks to the Schengen open borders seem rather random, since these rules are implemented only for EU citizens with valid residence permit.

So the only hope rests on Article 80 of the long-awaited Directive 55 of 2001, which requires, as reported by the Malmstrom, a "qualified majority" among EU states and that would be triggered "if it were to increase migration flows by Libya ". Here the question arises: what do you think of this Bossi and Maroni? Mystery.

Meanwhile, also about the landings, Italy risks an infringement procedure for non-implementation of EU directive on returns. The warning is Sandro Gozi, Head of EU policies Pd. "At the height of the emergency immigration this government does not want to enter the return directive of EU law because it knows that to implement this directive means deleting the crime of illegal immigration." Fear confirmed by the Directorate General of Internal Affairs of the European Commission.

"Right now, Italy has not yet informed the national legislative measures transposing the Directive." Apparently January 27, the Commission sent a formal letter to 20 countries, including Italy, which have not yet implemented the EU legislation, announced their intention to Brussels to open infringement proceedings before the Court of Justice.

"At this stage of things, you can not 'exclude any possibility." One possibility which would result in a fine rather than salt for Italy, a real tile on the head for the already devastated public finances of Rome, in spite of the 171 million euro, some of which have not yet spent, received so far to deal with the emergency.
