Haiti: Martelly application does not recognize the outcome of legislative

The president-elect of Haiti, Michel Martelly, formally requested Friday, April 22, the international community "not to recognize the results of legislative" tainted by fraud in favor of the ruling party. "The president-elect Joseph Michel Martelly calls for legislative results as published by the Electoral Council (CEP) are not recognized by the international community.

These results are unacceptable and do not reflect the popular will," reads in a statement from the office of Mr. Martelly. While parliamentarians should take office on Monday, Mr. Martelly has asked the Organization of American States (OAS) to send an emergency mission "for the immediate creation of a commission independent review to evaluate and shed light on these results with the support of other international bodies ".

The outgoing president of Haiti, Rene Preval, has been largely lost in the second round of the presidential election which he had opposed Martelly. However, his party insiders, gained ground in Parliament. According to final results of parliamentary elections, won 13 seats has initiated in the Lower House in the first round and 33 seats in the second round, giving him a total of 46 MPs, against thirty in the last parliament out of 99.

The legislative opposition and international observers reported desurprenantes differences between the preliminary results of two weeks ago. The results of 18 constituencies of MPs "have been reversed" in relation to provisional results, and especially to the benefit of the ruling party, denounced a diplomat on the spot.

"We found no explanation for the inversion results in 18 constituencies, which benefits the ruling party with the exception of two cases", for his part said the U.S. government in a statement issued by its embassy in Port -au-Prince.
