Fukushima, partially melted bars pumping radioactive water

 - At the nuclear power plant in Fukushima, the two robot sent on a "mission" by the United States have completed their first survey. The data collected are not comforting. The Japanese Agency for nuclear today certifies that the fuel rods for reactors 1 and 3 are partially melted. But it is very alarming and the reactor 2, where the robot used to measure radioactivity in the environment to then decide on the technicians to repair the cooling, they detected 99 of technetium, radioactive element that is released only with the fusion nuclear fuel.

Which does raise concerns about possible damage to the second reactor of the plant further to the nuclear crisis determined by the tsunami of 11 March. The environment in Fukushima is therefore at risk so as to exclude the activities of humans. Right in the reactor 2, the engineers of TEPCO, the company that manages the bogged down, kicked off today at the pumping of 60 thousand tons of highly radioactive water from the plant.

The contaminated liquid mass, another obstacle in the complicated work of restoration of electrical circuits and cooling, is the residue of the tons and tons of sea water and fresh water poured into the most dramatic days of the crisis in the system with helicopters and tanker trucks for cool and prevent a possible nuclear fusion reactors.

But the water flooded the engine rooms of three of the six reactors at the station, as well as all tunnels and underground rooms, preventing access of TEPCO's technical teams to repair the cooling system. The second reactor is submerged by 25 thousand tons of water, 10 thousand will be sucked today.

Are 42 thousand tons of liquid present in the reactors 1 and 3, where levels of radioactivity were recorded lower than in reactor 2. A company spokesman said today that the water pumped will be poured into a pool of radioactive waste with a capacity of 30 thousand tons. In the warehouse, which is always in the plant in Fukushima, will be diverted 480 tonnes of water per day.

The Japanese nuclear safety agency stated that the pumping and transfer will last 26 days.
