The new Congress begins the assault on the work of Barack Obama

112, U.S. Congress opened today with the reading sessions in the full House of Representatives of the full text of the Constitution. It is a symbol of new times, we do not know whether for better or for worse. The brand-new Republican majority interprets this gesture as evidence of their loyalty to the founding principles of this nation.

The defeated Democrats see it as mere demagoguery or, worse, a sign of intransigence masked in respect of tradition. Either way, Thursday begins the assault on the work of Barack Obama. Never before had read the Constitution in Congress, out of the wonderful fantasy created by Frank Capra in Mr.

Smith Goes to Washington "in Spain was entitled Smith Goes to Washington. The new Congress (87 Republicans and 9 Democrats), many of them members of the Tea Party with no political background, the carriers believe the boldness and honesty that characterized the James Stewart character in that movie.

With his own innocence, promise to come to the capital to change the way politics has been done for over two centuries. "This is the people's house ... My goal is to return power to the people," said the new chairman of the House of Representatives, John Boehner, after being sworn. The film, of course, had a happy ending.

The adventure begins now no one knows how it will end. The Congress, which was launched yesterday is the most conservative of the history of this country and one of the most inexperienced. Both qualities combined, make it one of the most unpredictable. The Republican Party, which won 63 new seats in November 2009, enjoys a majority of 242 against 193 in the House of Representatives.

The Democratic Party retains a superiority of 53 seats against 47 in the Senate, allowing you to block any initiative arising from the lower chamber. Will be many immediate and radical. Beginning next week a vote to revoke the health care reform, Republicans come to this Congress with the will and promise to undo all that Obama has done in the past two years.

The opposition, especially the Tea Party, under whose shade are 126 members of the House and 15 senators, the president accused of having invaded his government to areas reserved for citizens. The supreme example is health care reform, which requires all Americans to have health insurance.

Similar cases in the paranoia of the new conservatism, are aid to banks and the auto industry. Obama represents for the new Congress all the evil that is necessary to challenge to get America remains America. Their policy is, from the mentality of the Tea Party, a threat to American freedom and democracy.

Hence the loud reminder of the sacred Constitution. Uncertainty and confrontation is to be expected, therefore, proposed drastic times, bitter struggle, few results and great uncertainty. An ideal scenario for the press, but perhaps less attractive to citizens who want action and practical measures to remedy unemployment and improve the economy.

Republicans, who have dedicated themselves to block many of the measures Obama two years, confident that voters will check now that they have better ideas to offer and give them the presidency in 2012. Democrats believe that Republican obstructionism is now in evidence, the public verify the kind of extremists who sit in the Capitol and will give victory to Obama in two years.

It is quite possible that the calculation will consume the remaining time until the next presidential election. Neither the Republicans have enough strength to pass laws that the Senate could reject and the president could veto, or the Democrats have the votes to push through the remainder of the Obama program.

Faced with this situation is only to agree or fight. Although all expressed in their statements will better dialogue, more likely, when the truth prevails confrontation, fear of each party to give a triumphant letter to the contrary. U.S. policy allows at least the change of command ceremonies, such as that experienced yesterday on Capitol Hill, retain the warmth and civility that enhance democracy.

Seeing Nancy Pelosi delivered the gavel to Boehner, including praise, hugs and kisses, no one would say they are bitter enemies. The entire Congress stood for minutes applauded the new spokesperson, who took photos with both Republicans and Democrats. Institutional respect, the chairman of the House is second in line of succession to the U.S.

president, is essential in this country. Starting today, however, every man for himself.
