After the attack, Iraqi security forces went to the scene of the explosion, in the square of Al Ehtifalat, north of the city to facilitate the transfer of victims to hospitals in the city, the birthplace of former Iraqi president Saddam Hussein. The streets leading to the recruitment center have been closed.
So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack. The attack came a day after Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki said his country already has experience in fighting terrorism and has offered assistance to countries where al Qaeda plans to launch attacks.
