RIO DE JANEIRO, 17 Dilma Rousseff Government has deployed 586 soldiers to help rescue efforts in the cities hardest hit by the storm that has struck in recent days to the state of Rio de Janeiro, southeastern Brazil. The troops are part of the Army, Navy and Air Force has stated on the Ministry of Social Communication of the Brazilian Government.
They all work in the cities of Nova Friburgo, Petrópolis Teresópolis and where they have more than 652 people died as a result of floods and landslides. The uniforms are designed to meet cleanup of roads, debris removal, distribution of donations, medical support and transportation of victims.
These activities have been added 225 men of the Brazilian National Power: 80 firefighters who specialize in rescue operations, 130 officers and 15 experts to identify bodies, reported the official Agencia Brasil. For rescue and care of survivors are being used 12 helicopters, three ambulances, 74 vehicles, four bulldozers, two generators of electricity, a light tower and 15 military hospitals.
The Ministries of Social Development, Health and Agriculture have sent more than 51,000 tons of food to the mountains of Rio de Janeiro, as well as medical and personal hygiene.
