Several thousand people participated on Friday in Alexandria, Egypt, in the manifestations of the "Day Out" called by the opposition to force the resignation of President Hosni Mubarak, said an AFP photographer. The demonstrators, who included a majority of Muslim Brotherhood, the main opposition, gathered outside the mosque Qaed Ibrahim, at the center of the city, shouting "Down with Mubarak! Down scheme!".
Participants were also supporters of other opposition groups such as Kefaya (Enough!) And April 6 Movement and supporters of the Nobel Peace Prize Mohamed ElBaradei. A Muslim Brotherhood leader, Sobhi Saleh, said several columns of protesters, including a 25-thousand people gathered in the neighborhood of Ramle, should join in the afternoon the main march.
Organizers hope to mobilize one million people around the country to deal a decisive blow to Mubarak. The protest began on 25 January and resulted in clashes that left at least 300 dead and thousands injured, according to an UN.
