Noor Internet, the latest Internet Service Provider (ISP) Egyptian still in office, seemed to have started cutting its connections to the network, late Sunday afternoon. Shortly before eighteen hours, no more connection to the World. en Noor were from the network, according to the traffic monitors. Sites hosted by ISPs, including that of the Egyptian Stock Exchange, were still operational, but most ISP advertises its routes, preventing the traffic carried to its network.
FAI large companies and the Bourse, Noor was the only operator to continue operations after the complete blockage of the Internet, set up in the night from Thursday to Friday on the orders of the Egyptian authorities. If less than 10% of Web traffic in the country, Noor provides its services to Coca-Cola, Exxon Mobil and Lafarge, is economically and strategically.
But since Saturday evening, the Egyptians discovered that the backup connection at low speeds the ISP was always open. Telephone numbers and codes to connect to this network via a 56K modem, been circulating in the country. ISPs foreigners, as in France or FDN Telecomix Sweden, had also made available to the Egyptians of connection numbers, but communications are intended for other countries, the use of these services is more expensive.
