Canada says it is ready to apply sanctions against the Libyan regime

.- The Canadian Government said today that it is ready to take sanctions against the Libyan regime, for what he described as "incredible violations of human rights" and called for those responsible for atrocities are brought to justice. The Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper said during a televised speech that although Canada's top priority is the evacuation of its citizens stranded in Libya, is "preparing the next steps and actions to take." According to Harper, "the Libyan regime's actions are totally outrageous." "We condemn the brutal attacks and asked the Libyan regime to cease the use of force against its citizens.

The international community must send a clear message," he said. Canadian Prime Minister added that to the Libyan action, Canada will prepare sanctions against the regime of Muammar Gaddafi in coordination with the international community or unilaterally if necessary. " Harper also called for Libya to be suspended from the Human Rights Council and UN Security Council UN concerns the situation in Libya to the International Court of Justice.

With regard to the evacuation of Canadians, Harper said Ottawa will continue on Saturday to facilitate the departure of its citizens. About 200 Canadians have been already evacuated from Libya but given the fact that everyone left the African country in boats and planes sent by other governments.

The Canadian authorities' response to the crisis is coming under criticism especially after the first plane sent by Ottawa to Tripoli in the early hours of Friday left the Libyan capital without any occupant, or Canada or any other nationality.
